THE CHARACTER

Moses Walker — named for Moses Fleetwood Walker, the first Black man to play Major League Baseball in 1884, the same year Duffy & Ward was established. His Cream Ale is brewed with noble Czech Saaz hops and premium American two-row barley. European elegance meets American courage. The beer, like the man, is greater than the sum of its parts.

THE STYLE

Cream Ale is a uniquely American style born in the mid-19th century when American ale brewers created a hybrid approach to compete with the flood of German lager brewers. The result is a beer with the smoothness and drinkability of a lager combined with the slightly richer character of an ale. The name refers not to any dairy ingredient but to the remarkably smooth, creamy texture and easy-drinking nature of the beer.
